Residents of Woribogu Dingoni in the Tolon District have received a major boost in access to clean and safe drinking water following the commissioning of a solar-powered mechanized borehole by Republic Bank Ghana.
The project, commissioned on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of underserved communities across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, expressed gratitude to the chiefs, elders, and residents for their impressive turnout. He noted that the strong community participation demonstrated the people’s commitment to development and their willingness to embrace partnerships that enhance livelihoods.
Dr. Dzoboku explained that the persistent water challenges facing Woribogu Dingoni informed the bank’s decision to provide the solar-powered mechanized borehole. According to him, Republic Bank remains dedicated to supporting deprived communities through sustainable projects that address critical social needs.
He emphasized that the facility will not only provide reliable access to clean water but will also ease the burden on women and children who often travel long distances in search of water for household use.
The Managing Director further disclosed that the contractor responsible for the project will oversee its operation and maintenance for one year to ensure its smooth functioning. He, however, urged the community leadership to establish a management committee to work closely with the engineer in supervising the facility.
Dr. Dzoboku stressed that community ownership and active participation would be essential in ensuring the long-term sustainability and proper maintenance of the borehole.
The chiefs and residents of Woribogu Dingoni expressed their appreciation to Republic Bank for the intervention, describing the project as timely and transformative for the community.
