Omae Shakur takes on Tamale Central MP for being silent

Programs Manager at Tolon Radio, Mr. Shakur Omae, has expressed disappointment in the performance of Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Professor Alidu Seidu, accusing him of failing to deliver both in Parliament and in the constituency.
Speaking on Friday’s edition of  Yeltoga Kpanjogu on Tolon Radio, Mr. Omae said the MP is not living up to the expectations that came with replacing the late Dr. Murtala Mohammed.
He described the current MP’s silence on the floor of Parliament as “Mumu” (too quiet) as compared to the vocal presence of the late MP.
“Looking at how he was presented as the best person to replace the late Dr. Murtala Mohammed, this is not what we are seeing now,” Mr. Omae stated.
He noted that during Dr. Murtala’s tenure, Tamale Central gained national recognition because of how actively he represented the constituency in Parliament. In contrast, he said Professor Alidu Seidu has not made similar impact.
Mr. Omae also touched on the recent ministerial reshuffle. He said he was disappointed that the Tamale Central MP was not considered, not even for a Deputy Minister position, despite claims that he had the influence to lobby for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
“As a constituent and an advocate journalist, I have the right to speak out when representation is not meeting the standard,” he added.
Mr. Omae’s comments add to growing public conversation in Tamale Central about the performance and visibility of their current MP since he assumed office.
