The Elections Committee of the NPP in the Tolon Constituency of the Northern Region has rubbished claims that the upcoming executive elections slated for Saturday, 11th July 2026 has been stopped by a disqualified aspirant.
Reports are rife that a failed organizer aspirant placed a 10-day injunction on the elections in protest of his disqualification by the vetting committee of the party.
Reports suggest that he filed an injunction at the Tamale High Court accusing the vetting committee of the NPP of not operating in the realms of natural justice when he was not allowed to defend himself after the process.
Reacting to the claims, a member of the Elections Committee in Tolon told tolonradio.com that they have not been served with any injunction from a court. According to the source, “As of now, the Election Committee has not been served with any valid court order signed by a judge directing that the elections be suspended. Until such a valid and enforceable court order is duly served on the appropriate parties, preparations for the elections remain unaffected”.
The committee therefore urged the public to disregard the claims being spread on various platforms. The source said, “the public is encouraged to rely on verified information and avoid the spread of unconfirmed reports”.
The opposition NPP continues with its reorganization efforts with constituency level elections on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July 2026 across the country.
The elections will pave way for the election of regional level elections later in the year.
