The Government of Ghana is set to begin exporting nurses and teachers to Jamaica under a new bilateral agreement, Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Hon. Ablakwa revealed that Ghana and Jamaica have formalized a special partnership that will see qualified Ghanaian nurses and teachers take up roles in Jamaica. The arrangement is part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
“Jamaica is ready to receive nurses and teachers from Ghana under a special bilateral partnership,” the minister stated.
According to Hon Ablakwa, beyond workforce exchange between the two countries, the agreement also paves the way for high-level political consultations aimed at deepening collaboration in areas such as trade, education, agribusiness, tourism, culture, and sports.
Hon. Ablakwa described his meeting with Jamaica’s Foreign Minister, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, as “immensely successful.” The talks took place on the sidelines of the recent OACPS (Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States) summit in Brussels.
