The Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament and MP for Effutu constituency, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has vehemently denied claims circulating on social media, labelling them as “false and malicious.”

The claims, which allegedly quote excerpts from the yet-to-be-released Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee Report of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have gained traction online.
Notably, Issah Ourodjabor Dikeni Ibrahim has been identified as a key figure in sharing this false and fake content.

In a statement released on Monday, Hon. Afenyo-Markin made it clear that he had no involvement with the Committee’s work. “I did not appear before the Committee at any point during its work, neither did I submit a written statement and, as such, could not have made any submissions or statements to be captured in the said report,” he said.

He also reinforced remarks made earlier by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, confirming that only one copy of the report was submitted directly to the National Council through the party’s National Chairman and General Secretary. “No part of the report has been released to any person, group, or organ,” Hon. Afenyo-Markin stated.

The MP described the alleged quotes and page numbers as fabrications intended to cause distractions within the NPP. He accused those circulating the posts of being sympathizers and affiliates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), suggesting the move was part of a broader agenda of “political mischief.”

“These tactics will not distract us from the critical task of renewing and strengthening our Party ahead of the 2028 general elections,” he added.

The statement concluded with a call for unity within the NPP as it focuses on rebuilding following its recent electoral loss.
