Some young social media communicators of the opposition NPP have vowed to take on failed flagbearer contender, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong if he continues to make statements that tend to derail the efforts of the party to hold the governing NDC accountable.
This follows his recent comments accusing the NPP of abandoning the Afari Military Hospital project during the party’s 8 years in government.
Mr. Agyapong who spoke to the media during a donation to the police to mark his birthday earlier this week, questioned the NPP over its criticism of the government for not ensuring that some completed hospital projects are operationalized.
According to him, the Afari Military Hospital project had its foundation laid during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, with major construction works carried out under a subsequent NDC government before the NPP inherited the project.
He, however, said the NPP failed to complete the project during its eight years in office despite having the opportunity to do so.
Response from Minority
But the minority through the Ranking Member of the Health Committee, Dr. Ayew Afriyie has rubbished the claims of the former chairman of the Defense Committee of Parliament.
Dr. Afriyie in a social media post urged the former Assin Central MP to abreast himself with the facts of the project and not rely on populism in making claims that are untrue.
He shared receipts of payments made by the NPP administration to support the Afari Military Hospital project while in government.
Social media reactions
The comments of Mr. Ken Agyapong and his subsequent interview on Accra based Oman FM on Thursday got several NPP social media communicators reacting and threatening to treat him like a member of the NDC.
A communicator, Charles Opoku Presidoo wrote,
“1. NPP shd sack Kennedy Agyapong as soon as possible
2. NPP youth SHALL handle Ken like an NDC Foolsoldier henceforth”

Some other members of the party who commented on Charles Opoku’s post agreed with his call.
Political watchers are monitoring to see how the opposition party handles the renewal of attacks against it from one its leading members.
