The First Deputy Minority Whip, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu has expressed unhappiness with the inability of Communications Minister, Samuel Nartey George to appear before the house to answer questions relating to his ministry.

Alhaji Iddrisu who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Tolon who spoke on the floor of the law-making house on Tuesday is particularly unhappy that the question for the minister has been pending for a year now.

“Majority leader, I don’t think it is enough to say the minister responsible for communication is not available to answer the question or he communicated to Parliament. This morning his deputy was here. This morning the deputy minister of communication was in the chamber, why can’t he answer for his minister.

These questions are more than one year now. Yesterday we sat here but we could not because of the backlog of questions and the minister too was not available. Today the minister who has a deputy in the chamber is not here and we are saying the ministry wrote to the house saying he is unable to answer the questions. Where is the letter?”, he quizzed.

He stressed that the excuses from the ministers are not enough. He said, “Majority Leader, the explanation from your ministers is not enough and they are giving us a lot of pressure from our members. We are aware that this week parliament might not sit until next week Tuesday so when?”.

And we will be adjourning when we expect the mid-year budget. So, Mr. Speaker this is not enough. And I think that the deputy minister is here so he should answer the questions, or we are saying that we have a deputy minister who cannot answer questions”, he concluded.
