A true Naitive of Nyankpala

No MP in Tolon Since 1992 Has Impacted Nyankpala Positively Like Hon. Habib Iddrisu (Current MP for Tolon)

The Tolon Constituency has witnessed a series of parliamentary representatives since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1992. Among these representatives, Hon. Habib Iddrisu stands out as a transformative figure for the Nyankpala community since 1992.

Nyankpala is a community in the Tolon Constituency, known for its highest intellectual capacity of its people within the Constituency. It houses Institutions like the Savanna Agricultural Research Institute, a campus of the University for Development Studies, The Animal Research Institute and a host of Public and Private Schools, accounting for a possible highest population in the Constituency.

…. Even if I wasn’t born before 1992, we have heard things. “Some past MPs even shared koko and ‘Paanu’🤣”

This write-up argues that no Member of Parliament (MP) has positively impacted Nyankpala as significantly as Hon. Iddrisu, particularly in the realms of education, infrastructure, healthcare, and employment. My take will draw on specific achievements that underscore his commitment to Nyankpala, supported by his achievements as an MP since January 2021.

1. *Educational Development*
Nyankpala has long aspired to establish a Senior High School (SHS). Despite previous promises from past MPs, the community remained without this essential institution until Hon. Iddrisu’s tenure. His commitment to education is exemplified by the near completion of the STEM SHS, fulfilling a long-standing community need.

2. *Infrastructure Improvement*:

The road connecting Nyankpala to Tingoli and Dasuyili was notorious for its poor condition, particularly during the rainy season. Hon. Iddrisu’s intervention led to the successful repair and tarred surfacing of this vital route, enhancing accessibility for business and agricultural activities.

3. *Healthcare Access*: The absence of an ambulance in Nyankpala was a significant concern for residents. In a remarkable gesture of commitment, Hon. Iddrisu donated a well-equipped ambulance, addressing a critical gap in healthcare services.

4. *Educational Funding*: Hon. Habib’s educational fund has benefitted/helped over 150 tertiary students from Nyankpala, covering their full school fees. This initiative reflects his dedication to empowering the youth through education.

5. *Scholarship Opportunities*: The MP has facilitated the acquisition of the enviable GNPC Foundation Scholarship for 13 tertiary students from Nyankpala, providing them with invaluable financial support for their education.

6. *Employment Generation*: Hon. Iddrisu has secured sustainable jobs for over 20 graduates from Nyankpala, a feat that underscores his commitment to addressing youth unemployment in the community. – Something Nyankpala never witnessed until Hon Habib came

7. *Support for Vocational Training*: Over 50 apprentices and graduates have benefitted from Hon. Iddrisu’s annual support for vocational training, enhancing their skills and employability.

There are other personal commitments the Mp has done, including uplifting the face of the Beyom Palace, supporting some individuals in Nyankpala for business growth and other personal support.

The achievements of Hon. Habib Iddrisu in Nyankpala is not merely a reflection of political promises but rather a manifestation of genuine commitment to community development. His initiatives resonate with the Quranic principle of service to humanity, as stated in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:177): “Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but true righteousness is in one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, and the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask for help, and for freeing slaves.” Similarly, the biblical verse from Proverbs 29:2 states, “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.” These verses encapsulate the essence of Hon. Iddrisu’s leadership, which has fostered hope and progress in Nyankpala.

Hon. Habib Iddrisu’s tenure as the MP for Tolon has brought unprecedented positive change to Nyankpala. His achievements in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and employment have significantly improved the quality of life for residents. As Nyankpala continues to thrive, it is imperative that subsequent leaders draw inspiration from his exemplary service.
