The Member of Parliament for Tolon, Habib Iddrisu, has formally requested information from the Ministry of Energy & Green Transition regarding the management of the Energy Sector Support Account.
In a letter dated 28th April 2026, he invoked Section 18 of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), noting that the Ministry is required under the Energy Sector Levies Act, 2025 to submit an annual report on the account to Parliament by 31st March each year.
According to him, checks with Parliament indicate that the report has not yet been presented as mandated by law.
Hon. Habib Iddrisu is specifically demanding details on the total revenue realised under the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2025, as well as a comprehensive breakdown of how the funds have been applied.
He has requested that the information be organised clearly by period or agency to aid parliamentary scrutiny.
The Tolon MP has given the Ministry fourteen (14) days to respond and indicated that the information should be delivered in hard copy to his office at Parliament House. The move underscores growing parliamentary oversight and renewed calls for transparency and accountability in the management of Ghana’s energy sector funds.
