Residents of Tarikpaa community in the Savelugu Municipal have expressed their disappointments over the lack of progress in extending electricity to the area.
Nabila Zakaria, a community member, revealed that, the MP for the area, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz delivered electricity poles to the community during the 2024 campaign season, which the youth volunteered to plant.
However, months after the election, the poles remain unused, and the community is still waiting for the electricity extension.
Another member of the community Alhassan Banabas said some residents of the area are finding their own ways to get connected to the national grid and as a result ” We have experienced countless fire outbreaks in our community due to the unprofessional wiring from one house to the other’.
“Tarikpaa is a developed community in terms of population and housing, yet almost all some part of the community gets affected if one house cut off or develop electrical hitch”. He said
The residents are now appealing to the authorities, the Municipal Chief Executive of Savelugu and the Member of Parliament, Hajia Abdul Aziz Fatahiya to come this aid.
The Tarikpaa residents again emphasized that the need for electricity is crucial, especially as the community continues to grow and develop.
