The Northern Development Authority (NDA) announced that the Government of Ghana has directed the transfer of all Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Projects (IPEP), also known as the One Million Dollars per Constituency Projects, to the respective District Assemblies in Northern Ghana.

This move aims to strengthen decentralization and enhance the effective completion and management of community infrastructure projects at the local level.

In a press release issued by the Corporate Affairs Directorate of NDA on October 16, 2025, the NDA hinted that, the twenty percent (20%) of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) will be utilized to complete all ongoing and uncompleted IPEP projects in the districts.

With this 20% allocation, local authorities are poised to drive development in across board especially physical projects.

The transfer of IPEP projects to District Assemblies is a strategic move to bring development closer to the people.By empowering local authorities, the government aims to promote ownership and accountability in project implementation.

The Northern Development Authority’s comprehensive status report on IPEP projects will guide the transition process, ensuring a smooth handover.

District Assemblies can now leverage their local knowledge to complete projects efficiently, addressing community needs and promoting socio-economic growth.

This initiative according to NDA underscores the government’s commitment to decentralization and local development, paving the way for more effective project management and sustainable development outcomes.

By working together, District Assemblies and local stakeholders can unlock the full potential of IPEP projects, transforming communities and improving livelihoods.

The NDA in the press released said , it has submitted a comprehensive status report on these projects to the five Regional Coordinating Councils in Northern Ghana and urged that, assemblies to contact the NDA for further information and technical support.
