
One person has reportedly died in a collapsed building in Adenta, a suburb of Accra following Wednesday night’s rains which is said to have caused flooding in several communities in the national capital.
Reports from the Ghana National Fire Service said, the one-storey residential building comprising a ground and first floor apartments collapsed at Adenta Newsite during the heavy downpour trapping five occupants beneath the debris.
Prior to the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team from National Headquarters, two (2) injured persons had been rescued and conveyed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Fire Service rescuers have since successfully rescued two (2) additional injured occupants. All four (4) rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention at the 37 Military Hospital however the fifth person who is said to be a woman was reportedly found dead under the debris.
