Musah Superior calls for humility after Akwatia by-election defeat

By all measure, we fought a determined fight. Yet, the outcome did not favor us. While disappointing, it should not overshadow the commendable efforts our party operatives and volunteers put into the election.

Former Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Musah Superior, says the Akwatia by-election defeat should be a wake-up call for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a statement, he described the outcome as disappointing but said it must not be brushed aside. According to him, blaming the constituency’s swing nature or government advantage is misleading and dangerous for the NPP’s future.

Mr Superior also rejected claims that former vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was responsible for the loss, insisting elections are won and lost by the party as a whole.

He calls on the NPP to show humility, accept responsibility, and apologise to Ghanaians for mistakes made during its eight years in office. He added that reconnecting with the grassroots is key if the party is to regain public trust.

Mr Superior further urged the NPP to take polling and research seriously and to step up efforts in holding the ruling NDC accountable for its promises.

He concluded that the Akwatia defeat is not the end, but a reminder that the NPP must rebuild with humility, responsibility, and strategy.
