Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is pulling ahead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, according to a new poll by Global Info Analytics.

Released on August 21, 2025, the survey shows Dr. Bawumia commanding 52% support among NPP delegates putting him well ahead of his nearest rival, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, who trails with 17%.

Other contenders are struggling to break through. Former Agric Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong polled just 3%, while former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum secured 1%. Party stalwarts, including Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo, each managed less than 1%.

Still, the race isn’t entirely wrapped up. About 10% of delegates remain undecided, and another 9% declined to share their choice, leaving some room for shifts before the primaries.

The poll, conducted between August 12 and 20, surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates across 263 of the 276 constituencies, with 2,560 completing responses. Using computer-assisted telephone interviews, the study reports a 99% confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.44%.

For now, the numbers suggest Dr. Bawumia is firmly in the lead. But with the NPP’s history of competitive primaries, his rivals still have a chance to sway undecided voters and challenge his momentum in the months ahead.
