In a heartfelt effort to bridge the educational gap and empower the youth of her constituency, Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hon Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has launched the Savelugu Educational Support Initiative with a seed capital of GH₵100,000.

The initiative, which officially kicked off on Saturday 5 July 2025, aims to support brilliant but financially disadvantaged students pursuing tertiary education. According to Hon Hajia Fatahiya, the gesture is a reflection of her own life journey.

“Coming from humble beginnings, I know that education is a powerful tool for transforming lives and uplifting communities,” she said during the launch ceremony. “To our beneficiaries, studying hard for your success is the future of Savelugu.”

The event, which drew families, community leaders, and students from across the constituency, was filled with emotion and gratitude. Many of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the MP’s unwavering support.

“I’m not surprised by the effort and support of our hardworking MP. We, the constituents of Savelugu, are very lucky to have someone like Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz as our Member of Parliament,” said Zakaria Azara, one of the scholarship recipients.

The selected students pledged to study hard and make the most of the opportunity, promising to become responsible and productive citizens in the future.

Community leaders and educationists hailed the initiative as a timely intervention that will not only ease financial burdens but also inspire academic excellence and civic responsibility among the youth in the Savulegu constituency.

With the Savelugu Educational Support Initiative now in motion, many in the constituency say they are hopeful it will mark the beginning of a new chapter in access to higher education.
