False claims won’t fix us — Musah Superior

By: Hamza Lansah Lolly

Mr Musah Superior, a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed claims that the party’s internal primaries were to blame for its loss of certain parliamentary seats in the last general elections.

In a statement released Wednesday, the former Tamale Mayor described such claims as “totally false” and warned that they reflect a denial of the real reasons behind the party’s losses.

“The NPP is a democratic party,” he wrote. “We conduct primaries to choose our Presidential and Parliamentary candidates. To suggest we lost in all constituencies with competitive primaries is false and undermines our democratic values,” he said

Mr Superior criticised what he called “claptrap narratives” that ignore the party’s core principles. He stressed that the NPP would continue to hold transparent and inclusive internal elections, including democratic acclamations where only one candidate is unopposed.

He announced that the party would soon begin internal elections to choose new polling station, constituency, regional, national, presidential, and parliamentary officers, according to the party’s constitution.

“All registered and eligible members will have the opportunity to contest,” he added, encouraging competent individuals to step up and take on leadership roles. He noted.

With the next general elections in 2028, the NPP is expected to ramp up internal restructuring in the coming months.
