The Northern Region Muslim Council of Ghana (NRMCG) commends Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his gracious concession and his ability to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
Dr. Bawumia shows statesmanship when he conceded defeat to John Dramani Mahama on Sunday following the Saturday 7 December general election,
The 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate concession speech was applauded by various stakeholders including the diplomatic communities.
In a press release to media houses on 11th December 2024, the NRMCG also congratulated the President-elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, for the just-ended election.
The NRMCG further condemned the violent acts that nearly disrupted the peaceful election and called on the youth to stay away from such behavior and acts.
The council, however, lauded the media, the security, pastors, imams, our revered chiefs, local and international observers, and all Ghanaians at large for their roles, which collectively helped the entire process.
“We wish to use your medium today, to congratulate our President elect, H. E John Dramani Mahama for his victory in the just ended December, 7th General Elections.”
“We equally extend our sincere commendations to the Vice President, H.E Alhajj Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party for his gracious concession. This Single act of Dr. Bawumia shows his statesmanship and commitment to democracy and peace of the nation.”
“We take this opportunity and the moment to condemn in no uncertain terms the violent conducts that nearly marred the peaceful elections.
We hereby call on all youth of the region to stay away from such uncouth behavior and acts. They don’t speak well of us as people of faith”.
