15 out of 23 NPP MPs in Eastern Region endorsed Dr. Bawumia to lead the party in the 2028 elections

Fifteen (15) out of the twenty three (23) NPP Members the of Parliament from the Eastern Region, have declared their support for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the NPP flagbearership race slated on 31,January 2026.

The NPP MPs at press conference in Nkawkaw reiteteted that, changing Dr. Mahap Bawumia as the party’s Presidential candidate come January 31 2026 in would set the NPP and Ghana back by 16 years.

The NPP MPs include, Ida Adwoa Asiedu (Ayensuano) Korkor Asante (Atiwa West) Kojo Oppong Nkrumah (Ofoase Ayirebi ) Frank Annoh Dompreh (Nsawam Adoagyiri) Sammi Awuku (Akuapem North) Kofi Okyere Baafi (New Juaben South) ⁠Akwasi Acquah (Oda) ⁠Kingsley Agyemang (Abuakwa South) Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong (Abuakwa North) ⁠Kwame Appiah Kodua (Fanteakwa North) Duke Ofori-Atta (Fanteakwa South) Frank Asiedu Bekoe (Suhum) Charles Asuako Owiredu (Abirem) Kingsley Ahenkora Marfo (Achiase) Alex Agyare (Kade)

The NPP MPs threw their weight behind Dr. Bawumia during the beginning of his two day tour in the Eastern Region, Wednesday 24th September 2025.

MP for Achiese, Hon Ahenkora Marfo speaking on the behalf of the MPs, said Dr. Bawumia is the sure bet to lead the NPP to victory come 2028 elections.

“Haven been marketed and having been served as Ghana’s most impactful Vice President,  he is the best option politically and policy-wise to win us the elections”.

” He is humble, effective and embracing of all persons. We need a leader who unites and not one who divides” . He said

The MPs stated that they are resolved to campaign hard for Dr. Bawumia’s , “we are committed and will work hard him across the region and encourage all party members to find their resolute to support his candidature”.
