The Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Abu Takoro, has urged graduates to become agents of change and innovation in their communities.

He made the call when he graced the 11th Graduation Ceremony of Fatih College in Tamale as the Special Guest of Honour.

The colourful event brought together several dignitaries, including the Registrar of the University for Development Studies (UDS), the Deputy Chief Imam of the Northern Region, Reverend Sheikh Elias, as well as representatives from the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Immigration Service.

In his address, the Honourable Takoro emphasised that education remains the most enduring legacy that society can offer its youth. He noted that the transformation of Tamale is being driven by education, innovation, and civic responsibility values that form the foundation of the city’s development agenda.

The Tamale Mayor also reaffirmed the commitment of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to improving educational infrastructure, supporting youth entrepreneurship, and building strategic partnerships that promote skills development and sustainable livelihoods.

He charged the graduating students to make a difference wherever they find themselves, saying, “We want to see every graduate become a change-maker, an innovator, and a proud ambassador of Tamale’s future.”

The 11th Graduation Ceremony of Fatih College celebrated the academic achievements of students and reinforced the crucial role of education in shaping Ghana’s development.

Violent confrontation as Minority and Majority MPs clash over vetting of Ablakwa, Akandoh Juliana Odame AsarebyJuliana Odame Asare January 30, 2025 Reading Time: 1 min read Tensions flared during a session of the Appointments Committee as members of the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed over the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. The disagreement erupted when the Minority proposed rescheduling the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the day’s proceedings. However, Majority members rejected this suggestion, insisting that the vetting should continue as scheduled. The disagreement escalated into chaos, with Minority members disrupting the session by breaking tables and microphones in an effort to prevent any delay. Despite this, the Majority stood firm, arguing that the committee was following its established schedule and that the vetting should proceed without interruption. The situation prompted a heightened security presence in the conference room as tensions mounted. The Minority held firm in its stance, insisting that no further nominees should be vetted, pointing out that an agreement had been made to vet just four nominees and adjourn for the day. As the clash between the two factions continued, the committee’s work came to a standstill, with both sides refusing to back down from their positions.
