The Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Police Service have launched a series of joint military and police swoops in the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions.

The joint operations targets suspected individuals and groups involved in recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) team, police officers, and officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including journalists.

The operations, which took place on November 12, 2025, aimed to arrest identified persons and disrupt the activities of any individual or group attempting to obstruct the anti-galamsey operations or interfere with the security services. The joint task force warned that anyone found to be hindering their efforts would face the full force of the law.

The Ghana Armed Forces and Police Service assured the public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of well-meaning inhabitants in the affected towns and communities. They urged the public to remain calm and continue with their daily activities without fear or panic.

The Security Services commended civil society groups, the media, and individuals for their condemnation of the unwarranted attacks and disruption of activities by the security forces. They also expressed appreciation for the continuous cooperation from the general public.

The joint operations are part of the ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining activities and maintain law and order in the affected regions. The Ghana Armed Forces and Police Service remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and residents.

The press release was signed by Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General, Public Relations, Ghana Armed Forces.
