Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, former Finance Minister and current Ranking Member of Parliament’s Finance Committee has criticized the 2026 budget, describing it as “growthless” and “jobless”, adding that the budget does not offer  hope to Ghanaians, workers, teachers, or investors.

Debating the budget on the floor of Parliament, Dr. Amin Adam expressed disappointment with the budget, citing inconsistencies in funding allocations, particularly in education, agriculture, and infrastructure.

The Karaga MP highlighted significant shortfalls, including: Education GHC 506.7 million, funding shortfall, AgricultureGHC 575.6 million funding gap, Infrastructure (Big Push Initiative)GHC 27 billion funding gap.

Dr. Amin Adam accused the government of fiscal deception, arguing that the budget relies on unrealistic revenue projections and fails to address Ghana’s fundamental economic challenges.

He warned that the budget’s inconsistencies would undermine investor confidence and exacerbate the country’s economic woes.

The Minority in Parliament has vowed to oppose any upward adjustment in the upcoming appropriation bill, citing concerns over the government’s ability to utilize allocated funds effectively.
