Residents of Accra and surroundings seem to be in for more trouble as several hours of rain has left many parts of the national capital flooded.
The situation has forced the Interior Ministry to issue a statement warning residents who have not left their homes yet to stay back in order to avoid getting caught up in the floods which has taken over places such as, Odaw River, Mallam junction, 37 Military hospital and a host of other areas.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, urged residents of Accra to work from home on Monday following severe overnight rainfall that has triggered widespread flooding and brought parts of the capital to a standstill.
The Minister advised that workers already at their workplaces should remain there until conditions improve, while those yet to set out for work should stay home and operate remotely if possible.
He further urged employers across the country to activate flexible work arrangements, emphasising the importance of continuity through remote operations in the face of the disruption.
Winneba-Cape Coast Highway Cut off
Hundreds of commuters have been left stranded after floodwaters cut off the main Winneba–Cape Coast road, bringing movement along the busy corridor to a complete standstill.

The disruption has effectively paralysed traffic flow along the route, with commuters and motorists forced to wait for conditions to improve before attempting to continue their journeys.
Weija Dam Spillage
Following the massive inflow of water into the Weija Dam, the National Disaster Management Organization announced a decision to spill the excess water in order to prevent the walls of the facility from crashing.
If spilt, several residents in the catchment area of the dam will have to flee their homes as similar incidents have left most of them homeless.
