The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Eduamoah, has appealed to media practitioners, religious leaders, and traditional authorities across the region to intensify public education and advocacy on sanitation to help create cleaner and healthier communities.

According to the Minister, sanitation remains one of the major challenges facing many communities in the Central Region, and addressing the issue requires a collective effort from all stakeholders, including the media, churches, mosques, and traditional institutions.

He noted that huge amounts of government resources are spent annually on sanitation-related activities including waste management and clean-up exercises.

He explained that if communities embrace proper sanitation practices, those funds could be redirected to other critical development projects such as education, healthcare, roads, and job creation initiatives.

Hon. Eduamoah emphasized that media houses, pastors, imams, and chiefs possess significant influence within society and can play a vital role in shaping positive attitudes towards environmental cleanliness.

The Minister further expressed his vision of making the Central Region the cleanest region in Ghana and urged residents to take personal responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

He made these remarks during an inspection tour of the ongoing 24-hour economy market projects at Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District.

The District Chief Executive for Twifo Atti-Morkwa,Hon. Isaac Yawson, pledged his full support towards achieving the Minister’s sanitation agenda and developmental vision for the district and the region as a whole.

He thanked the government and President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment and assured residents that he would work tirelessly to ensure the successful completion of the 24-hour economy market projects.

Hon. Yawson stated that the market projects are expected to boost local economic activities, create employment opportunities for the youth, and improve trading conditions for businesses in the district.

He also reiterated his commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to promote environmental cleanliness and sustainable development within the district.
