The Tolon District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Muniru Mohammed Sadat, who also serves as the NDC Constituency Organizer, has outlined what he describes as major transformations since assuming office.
According to him, one of his first priorities was to improve the welfare of NADMO staff in the district. He noted that enhancing working conditions and staff motivation was crucial to strengthening the organisation’s efficiency and improving disaster response delivery across Tolon.
Speaking in an interview on Tolon Radio’s socio political talk show “Yeltoga Kpanjogu,” hosted by Abdul Shakur Omae, Mr. Sadat emphasized that his administration has shifted NADMO’s focus from reaction to prevention. He revealed that the office now works closely with the Tolon District Assembly to implement proactive disaster prevention strategies.
“We don’t wait for disasters to happen. We collaborate with the Assembly to ensure preventive measures are in place,” he stated.
On public education, the Director disclosed that his office has rolled out a structured sensitization programme, assigning dedicated teams to conduct awareness campaigns in junior high schools, marketplaces, mosques, and homes throughout the district. The initiative focuses on fire safety, flood prevention, and early warning systems.
Mr. Sadat stressed that disaster management is a shared responsibility and called on residents to support NADMO’s preventive efforts to ensure a safer and more resilient Tolon District.
