The President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, is set to launch his flagship agricultural initiative, the “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” program, on Wednesday, 12 November, in Kumasi.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Communication, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who explained that the program is part of the government’s efforts to revamp the poultry industry, reduce the importation of chicken and eggs, and strengthen local food production.

According to the minister, the Nkoko Nkitinkiti program aims to raise 500,000 birds annually while creating jobs and improving the livelihoods of Ghanaian farmers.

Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu further stated that after the official launch, all Ghanaians will be able to request chicks from their respective districts, municipalities, and metropolitan assemblies at no cost.

The program is expected to be a major boost for the agriculture sector, particularly for smallholder farmers, and could significantly reduce the country’s reliance on imported poultry products.
