The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tamale, Hon Alhaji Abu Takoro has cut sod for the construction and furnishing of a modern Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Kudula, a farming community in the Tamale South constituency.
The facility include a decent accommodation for health workers.
The sod cutting ceremony held on Friday, October 24, 2025, brought together Chiefs, opinion leaders and community members of Kudula.
Speaking after the sod cutting, the Tamale Mayor expresses his gratitude to the people of Kudula for coming out in their numbers to witness the ceremony, adding that, the euphoria is an indication that the community prioritize development and thus will monitor the project and owned it after completion.
Abu Takoro said the project is aimed at improving access to quality primary healthcare and ensuring timely medical attention for residents, particularly women and children.
“This project forms part of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly’s broader commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and bridging the gap between urban and peri-urban communities”. He said
The Tamale Mayor urged the contractor to include the unskilled labour of Kudula community in the execution of the project,”this will help boost livelihoods and stimulate local economic growth within the community”.
He further urged the contractor to adhere strictly to quality standards and deliver the project within the stipulated timeframe, while calling on community members to offer their full cooperation and support.
The Tamale Mayor commended President John Dramani Mahama for ensuring the release of the District Assemblies Common Fund, which continues to empower local assemblies to undertake key development projects that improve the lives of the people.
The Tamale Mayir was accompanied by the NDC Tamale South Constituency Chairman, some staff of the metro Assembly and the Assemblyman of Kudula.
