Tamale Mayor, Abu Takoro has launched a series of direct community engagements, starting with a visit to the Datooyili electoral area, Sunday, 19 October 2025.

The bold move is to bridge the gap between the Metropolitan Assembly and the people it serves. The initiative again aims to foster collaborative problem-solving by taking the Mayor and his team directly into the heart of the metropolis’s communities.

During the engagement, which covered the communities of Adubil-yili, Datoyili, Cheshei, and Zuozugu, Mayor Takoro emphasized that the exercise is critical for understanding the true needs and development priorities of residents.

The Tamale Mayor described the initiative as a core part of his administration’s philosophy, designed to strengthen the collaboration between the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and the residents.

Hon Takoro said the initiative seeks to create a platform for open dialogue and ensure that policies are shaped by the people they are intended to benefit.

“This initiative forms part of my broader effort to strengthen collaboration between the Assembly and residents of the metropolis,” Mayor Takoro stated.

“It provides an important opportunity to directly interact with community members, better understand their concerns and development priorities, and collectively work towards practical solutions.” he said

The Mayor of Tamale was accompanied key figures of the Assembly including the Presiding Member, Assembly Members alongside executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Tamale South Constituency.

Mayor Takoro expressed his deep appreciation for their support, highlighting the need for a collective approach to the city’s development agenda.

Residents in the communities of Adubil-yili, Datoyili, Cheshei, and Zuozugu had the opportunity to voice their concerns directly to the Mayor and his team on issues ranging from sanitation and water access to road infrastructure and educational facilities.

The Tamale Mayor assured residents that the insights gathered would directly inform the Assembly’s interventions.

“Through these engagements, I seek to get closer to the people, foster open dialogue, and ensure that the Assembly’s policies reflect the true needs and aspirations of our residents,” he affirmed.

This engagement in Datooyili sets the stage for a metropolis-wide tour, with the Mayor announcing that similar interactions will continue in other electoral areas in the coming days. The initiative underscores a renewed commitment to building a more inclusive, responsive, and progressive Tamale Metropolis, one community at a time.
