President John Dramani Mahama has nominated His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie for appointment as Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana.
In line with Article 144(1) of the 1992 Constitution, the President has forwarded his name to the Council of State for consideration.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, who has been Acting Chief Justice since April 22, 2025, has had a distinguished career, serving at the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.
The Presidency describes him as a jurist who has contributed immensely to developing Ghana’s jurisprudence and earned respect for his integrity, intellect, and impartiality.
A statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President, emphasised that Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s wealth of experience and long service on the Bench make him well-suited for the office of Chief Justice.
