The 44 Minutes Bench, a staunch NPP youth group based in Aboabo, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region has declared their unwavering support to the former Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to contest the NPP flagbearership race, come January 30th, 2026.

According to the NPP youth wing, Dr. Bawumia possesses the vision, leadership qualities, and track record of service that makes him the ideal candidate to lead the party to victory in the 2028 elections.

At a press conference in Tamale, the NPP youth emphasized that, Mr. Bawumia has consistently demonstrated a deed understanding of the needs and aspirations of the Ghanaian people especially the youth, adding that, “He has articulated a compelling narrative that resonates with our part’s ideals”.

The Secretary of the 44 Minutes Bench, Sulemana Iddrisu noted that, the emergence of Dr. Bawumia on the Ghanaian political landscape has helped shape the direction of politics from insults and personal attacks to fact-based politics. “Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is one person who conducts his campaign devoid of character assassination and vindictiveness. He doesn’t shift the focus from the plan’s merits to the person’s past because he believes personal attacks can deepen divisions and make constructive debates more difficult”. He said

He reiterated that, Dr. Bawumia is the most qualified candidate among all the contenders of the NPP’s flagbearership race, saying that, “He served as Vice Presidential Candidate in 2008, 2012, and 2016, all in opposition, and also as Vice President from 2017 to 2024, and this makes him the most experienced political figure in contemporary politics”.

The 44 Minutes Bench Secretary said, Dr. Bawumia as Vice President initiated and championed several policies to admiration of the Ghanaian people, including the implementation of the Ghana Card, mobile money interoperability, digital payment systems, the healthline drones and many others.

The NPP youth wing in Aboabo urged all NPP youth to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the NPP flagbearership race, come January 30th, 2026.
