Galamsey crisis exposes Mahama weaknesses – Musah Superior

Former Deputy Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Musah Superior, has launched a blistering attack on the government, accusing it of betraying Ghanaians in the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

In a statement released, Mr. Superior said the administration has failed to demonstrate the political will required to tackle the menace, despite repeated promises to end it.

According to him, galamsey has not only destroyed water bodies and farmlands but also continues to threaten the future of Ghana’s environment and economy. He accused the government of merely paying lip service while powerful interests benefit from the illegal trade.

“The government has completely lost control of the galamsey fight. What we are witnessing today is a betrayal of the trust of Ghanaians, who were promised decisive action to protect our lands and rivers,” he stated.

Mr. Superior called for urgent, transparent, and non-partisan measures to address the problem, stressing that the fight against galamsey must rise above political rhetoric.

He urged Ghanaians to hold leaders accountable, warning that failure to act will have devastating consequences for future generations.
