The Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has paid the fees of thirty-three students from the Volta Region studying at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The support, which amounts to one hundred and five thousand Ghana cedis (GHC105,000), was channelled through the Volta Regional Students Association (VORSA) to ease the financial burden on the beneficiaries.
Interacting with the students, Hon. Afenyo-Markin urged them to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined, and strive for excellence. He noted that Ghana’s future depends on young people who are not only educated but also responsible and committed to national development.
The Minority Leader encouraged the beneficiaries to give back to society when the opportunity arises, describing education as one of the most effective tools for empowerment and growth.
Leaders of VORSA expressed their appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and a source of motivation. They pledged to uphold discipline, work hard, and make good use of the opportunity.
The gesture, they said, would go a long way to inspire other students facing financial challenges to persevere in their academic journey.
