The Member of Parliament for Tolon and first Deputy Minority Whip, Hon. Habib Iddrissu, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that school dropout becomes a thing of the past in the constituency.

He gave the assurance at the disbursement ceremony of the SoyaLana Educational Fund, held at the Tolon Community Centre. The initiative, which has already impacted many students in the area, is aimed at supporting brilliant but needy learners to pursue their education without financial barriers.

Hon. Habib expressed worry over the number of young people forced to leave school due to economic hardship, despite their academic potential. According to him, it is heartbreaking to see promising students cut their education short because they lack the means to continue.

“Many young men and women have dropped out of school not because they are not performing well, but because they do not have the financial ability. Even though I cannot pay for everything for each student, I am ever ready to help in my own small way,” he stressed.

The MP disclosed that he is determined to invest his energy and resources in making sure that financial challenges do not stand in the way of education in Tolon. He said education remains the surest path to breaking the cycle of poverty and securing a brighter future for the constituency.

At the event, the SoyaLana Educational Fund disbursed GH¢320,000 to 229 selected students. Beneficiaries, described as brilliant but needy, are expected to use the support to cover various educational expenses, including tuition and learning materials.

The MP noted that the fund, which he initiated, forms part of his long-term vision to improve access to quality education, nurture talent, and empower the youth of Tolon to contribute meaningfully to national development.
