Executive Director of FEAD Ghana, Hajia Hikmat Baba Dua, has hinted her plans to venture into frontline politics in the future, with a possible eye on the Kumbungu parliamentary seat.
Speaking on Tolon Radio’s morning show Behi Na Yoo hosted by Shaharan Suhiyini, Hajia Hikmat revealed that while advocacy remains her current priority, she believes politics may be the natural next step.
“I believe in walking the talk. For now, I have been doing advocacy for the past ten years, but at some point, I might have to step into the shoes of politics,” she said.
She explained that many young people consider her a role model, and merely sticking to advocacy without proving her leadership capabilities in politics would not send the right message.
According to her, taking that “giant step” would not only inspire the youth but also encourage more young people, especially women, to embrace leadership roles.
Although she did not disclose which political party she might join, observers believe her choice is likely to be between the two dominant political parties in Ghana.
Hajia Hikmat stressed that her decision will ultimately depend on the will of Allah, noting that leadership is a responsibility that must be approached with humility and purpose.
