The Government has made a passionate appeal to the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) to come to the negotiation table for discussion.

The GRNMA on Monday, June 9 embarked on a nationwide strike over the implementation of their conditions of service following a unsuccessful emergency meeting with the Ministry of Health.

The government at a press conference today, June 10 urged the striking Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association to come back for talks as government is ready to negotiate with them.

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh at the press conference called on the GRNMA to come around the table to find a lasting solution to the matter. “I assured them (GRNMA) that as their mother ministry, we are the best people to pursue their interest and we committed in doing so”.

The Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Nyarko Ampem hinted that, the demands by the GRNMA will have dire consequences on the 2025 budget, reiterating that it is important to manage the government expenditure.

Mr Nyarko Ampem noted that, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health are willing to sit with them and negotiate for a road map to be accommodated for next year budget.
