The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong caution to all members and prospective aspirants for the upcoming internal elections to refrain from engaging party executives or structures in any form of campaigning until official nominations are opened.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 14 May and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP stressed that early campaigning violates the party’s internal regulations and risks undermining its preparations for the 2028 general elections.

“Until official nominations are duly opened, no individual is permitted to engage party executives or party structures in any form of campaigning or soliciting support for internal positions,” the statement read.

The directive, according to the party’s statement, is aimed at promoting fairness, transparency, and discipline within the NPP as it undertakes internal reforms to strengthen its structures and unity.

The leadership expressed concern that premature engagements with party officials could disrupt strategic efforts currently underway to reposition the NPP for electoral success.

“Premature engagements not only undermine the authority of the Party’s organs but also risk disrupting the careful and strategic efforts currently underway,” the statement added.

The party called on all stakeholders to remain focused and supportive of the leadership’s initiatives, emphasising its commitment to inclusiveness, fairness, and due process.

Mr. Kodua Frimpong assured that the party will communicate all necessary timelines and nomination procedures in due course.

The NPP is currently undertaking structural and organisational reforms to consolidate its base and build momentum ahead of the 2028 polls, following its pledge to present a unified front to Ghanaian voters.
