The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly has unanimously confirmed Hon. Abu Takoro as the new Mayor, following a decisive endorsement held at the Assembly’s conference room.
Hon. Takoro received all 58 valid votes cast by the Assembly members, comprising 40 elected representatives and 18 government appointees, securing a 100% approval rate—a rare demonstration of total consensus.
The confirmation ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries including the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Hon. Ibrahim Mutula Mohammed, the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and party executives, underscoring the importance of the occasion.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Takoro expressed heartfelt appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Assembly members, and the appointees for the confidence placed in him.
“I am honoured by this overwhelming show of support,” he said. “I pledge to serve with integrity, transparency, and dedication, working hand-in-hand with all stakeholders, more especially our chiefs, to advance the development agenda of the Tamale Metropolis.”
His unanimous confirmation is seen as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership abilities and sets high expectations for accelerated development in the metropolis.
