The Head of Corporate Affairs at the Hajj Board and former Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Hon. Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, has dismissed claims by the Minority Caucus regarding the Hajj Village project, stating that they have no knowledge of the initiative and are merely playing politics with it.

Speaking on Tolon Radio’s current affairs program Yɛltɔɣa Kpanjɔɣu, Alhaji Fuseini challenged the Minority’s assertions, questioning their involvement in the project.

“When did they cut sod for the project? Who did the sod cutting and where? We all know the NPP. If indeed they had done something like that during the campaign season, they would have used it to campaign, and we would have heard a lot of noise about it, especially since their flagbearer was a Muslim,” he stated.

Alhaji Fuseini, known for his use of proverbs, added, “When a thief kisses you, you must hurry to count your teeth,” implying that the NPP’s statements should be met with scepticism.

However, the Minority Caucus insists that plans for the Hajj Village project were initiated under the previous administration and accuses the current government of taking undue credit. Some Minority members, including the member of parliament for Gushegu, Hon Alhassan Suleiman Tampuli, argue that feasibility studies and groundwork for the project were laid before the current administration took over.

In response to concerns about funding, Alhaji Fuseini clarified that the project would not cost Ghanaian taxpayers any money, as it is being undertaken by the Ghana Airport Company Ltd.

Despite the conflicting claims, the Hajj Village project remains a topic of political debate, with both sides seeking credit for the initiative.
