A Member of Parliament for Damango has firmly denied allegations that he made inappropriate remarks about Hon. Dr. Zanetor Rawlings while she was addressing Parliament.

In a statement released to the public on his Facebook page, the MP described the claims as “absolutely false” and urged the general public to disregard them. He reaffirmed his deep respect for the Rawlings family, particularly Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, and dismissed any notion that he would engage in derogatory discourse.

“For the record, the said allegation is absolutely false. I have the utmost respect for Former President Jerry John Rawlings, his family, and Dr. Zanetor Rawlings in particular,” he stated.

Reflecting on his relationship with the late former president, Hon Jinapot recalled that former president Jerry John Rawlings of late memory had shown interest in him as a young politician, and he, in turn, held Rawlings in high regard as a statesman.

“I have and will not denigrate the Rawlings in any form or shape, and any Ghanaian for that matter. That is not in my nature,” he emphasized.

He further stressed his commitment to maintaining decorum in public discourse, particularly in parliamentary debates. “I have always believed in decent debates and intellectual discourse in Ghanaian public life and Parliament, especially, devoid of insults and character assassination.”

The statement comes amid growing public circulation accusing the MP of using unparliamentary words against Dr Zanetor. While some critics continue to call for further clarification, supporters of the MP have backed his stance, urging an end to what they see as unfounded accusations.

It remains to be seen whether any additional evidence or testimonies will emerge regarding the alleged comments. However, the MP’s strong denial signals his intent to move past the controversy and focus on substantive parliamentary discussions.
