Authorities in Bogoso are investigating an incident in which unidentified individuals vandalized three transformers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

According to reports available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), two of the affected transformers—50kVA and 200kVA—were part of the circuit supplying power to the Community Water at Bepoh Bridge and some bungalows at Anlonkwanta. The third, a 100kVA dedicated transformer at Samahu, was not connected to the circuit at the time of the incident.

Mr Awal Boye, Western Regional Public Relations Officer of ECG, confirmed that the matter had been reported to the police, who have launched an investigation. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities near ECG installations to prevent further damage or disruptions to electricity supply.

The vandalism of power infrastructure poses a significant risk to communities, potentially leading to power outages and water supply disruptions. Authorities are appealing to residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible.

More updates will be provided as investigations progress.
