President John Dramani Mahama has officially inaugurated his first group of six ministers during a ceremony held on Wednesday, 22nd January, at the Jubilee House.

The newly appointed ministers are:

Minister for Finance: Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson

Minister of Energy and Green Transition: John Abdulai Jinapor

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice: Dr. Dominic Ayine

Minister of Roads and Highways: Kwame Governs Agbodza

Minister of Food and Agriculture: Eric Opoku

Minister of Education: Haruna Iddrisu

The event was attended by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Presidential Adviser and Special Aide Joyce Bawa Mogtari, senior government officials, and leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The swearing-in ceremony began with the administration of the Oath of Allegiance, the Oath of Secrecy, and the signing of the Oath Book, all led by President Mahama.

In his remarks, the president acknowledged the significant challenges the new administration faces and underscored the urgency of addressing inherited issues, including power outages and food shortages in schools.

“Through determined efforts, I can report that we have now averted the looming threat of power outages and have begun delivering fuel to the thermal plants in the east ahead of the shutdown of the West African gas pipeline,” President Mahama announced.

He also outlined steps taken to resolve the acute food shortages in senior high schools. “We have implemented short-term measures to ensure our children have adequate food to continue their learning,” he assured.

President Mahama concluded by urging the newly sworn-in ministers to serve with humility and respect for the public. He cautioned against arrogance, emphasizing that Ghanaians would not tolerate any display of disregard for their concerns.
