The Public Relationship Officer of the Ghana Fire Service in the Northern Region, A.D.O Hudu Baba has lamented that inadequate supply of water is hindering their work in fight fire.

Mr. Baba made this lamentation when a fire gutted a warehouse at Zogbeli behind the MTN office.

According to him, inadequate water supply always delays them in extinguishing fires whenever there is a fire outbreak in the region.

“We all saw what happened today; one of the main challenges that we had was water, I thought the water was available, but the distance we had to travel from this point to that of Tatco, the Hydrangeas weren’t even flowing, we had to make calls to the Ghana water company limited. Ideally, water should be flowing 24/7 with full pressure. Hydrangea should be available and accessible to the Ghana National Fire Service, you and I pay 1% for firefighting if we don’t have enough water, the Ghana Water company should come out and tell us the amount given as water for firefighting is not enough so that something can be done about it but not for you to be denying other institutions and emergencies from performing their mandate ”

He urges the general public to desist from attacking the fire service personnel as it’s not their fault for always delaying in delivery of their mandate as firefighters.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is not yet known as the Fire Service are still investigating at the time of this report.
