The Chief Executive Officer of the National Lottery Authority, Mr Mohammed Abdul Salam, says the National Democratic Congress’s victory in the Akwatia by-election is a reflection of the party’s humility, honesty, and thorough preparations.
Speaking on Tolon Radio’s morning show with Mohammed Suhuyini Shaharan, Mr. Salam stressed that no political party can win elections by being arrogant.
According to him, organisation and discipline remain key to electoral success. Citing Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he said the NDC takes preparation seriously and began working towards electoral victories as far back as 2021, after the 2020 polls.
Mr. Salam noted that the emphatic win in Akwatia, as well as the NDC’s success in the 2024 Presidential and parliamentary general elections, were the result of years of planning and dedication.
He emphasised that political parties must demonstrate humility and honesty if they want to secure the trust of the electorate.
“Elections are decided by the people, and the majority of them will only give you power if you respect them and stop arrogance,” he remarked.
The NLA Boss added that while not every member of the NDC may fully embody these qualities, the majority of the party’s leadership understands their importance. He said the goodwill the NDC currently enjoys is the reward for years of preparation, humility, and devotion to the Ghanaian people.
