Former NEIP CEO Kofi Ofosu Nkansah expresses concern over youth in Alan Movement

Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has raised concerns about the impact of Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change on the political careers of some young people.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Mr. Nkansah said he pities members of the Movement, citing individuals like Michael Sarfo-Kantanka, whom he described as young politicians whose ambitions have been cut short due to their association with the former Trade and Industry Minister.

According to him, Mr. Kyerematen, who is 70 years old, has already had a long career in politics, having served as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States and as a Cabinet Minister in all four terms of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Mr. Nkansah suggested that while Mr. Kyerematen has the option to gracefully bow out after decades of service, many young supporters risk ending their political journeys prematurely because of what he described as “bitterness.”

Alan Kyerematen resigned from the NPP in 2023 and launched the Movement for Change, under which he is contesting the 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate. His decision continues to generate varied reactions across the political divide.
