The Assistant Regional Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region, Hon. Aniwaba KB Jeremiah, has called on the party’s leadership to take immediate steps to address comments made by Hon. Bryan Acheampong which he described as divisive and inappropriate.

In a statement issued, Hon. Jeremiah expressed disappointment over the remarks, stressing that they did not reflect the values of unity, tolerance, and inclusiveness for which the NPP is known.

He urged the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council (NC) of the party to call Hon. Acheampong to order and ensure that he renders an unqualified apology to Ghanaians and to the NPP.

“Our party has always drawn strength from inclusivity, embracing people of all backgrounds, regions, and ethnic groups. Any action or statement that seeks to divide along such lines is counterproductive and detrimental to the fortunes of the NPP,” the statement said.

Hon. Jeremiah also commended the conduct of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a model of humility and inclusiveness, and urged other aspirants within the party to emulate those values.

He emphasised the need for discipline, unity, and respect as the NPP prepares for future electoral contests, adding that the collective interest of the party and the country must be placed above sectional or personal considerations.
