Kamal-Deen calls for unity and strategic reorganisation in NPP

The Former Ghana Consul General to Saudi Arabia, Kamal-Deen Abdulai, has called on the leadership and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise unity and grassroots mobilisation as the party undergoes restructuring and rebuilding efforts.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, Mr. Kamal-Deen compared politics to football, noting that a team’s confidence significantly impacts the morale of its supporters.

“In politics, just as in football, the confidence of a team which instils confidence in their supporters matters for the game,” he said. “What our great party, NPP, needs right now is exactly that — not cabals and mafiarism!”

He urged the party’s National Chairman, through the General Secretary and with the endorsement of the National Council, to immediately mandate all regional and constituency executives to hold extraordinary conferences. These meetings, he said, should serve both to address internal concerns and to accelerate reorganisation and strategic planning ahead of the 2028 elections.

“This is not the time for division or backroom power struggles. We need to reenergise our base and speak with one voice. The party must be seen actively preparing, not just campaigning, but reconnecting with its structures and grassroots,” he stated.

Mr. Kamal-Deen warned that internal factions and “mafiarism” would only deepen divisions within the party and hinder progress. He emphasised the need for confidence, cohesion, and proactive leadership as the NPP gears up for the upcoming internal elections.

His statement adds to a growing chorus within the party calling for renewed focus on internal unity, voter engagement, and strategic mobilisation.
