The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced the suspension of Mr Mohammed Fuseini Sadat from his role as Chairman of the Tamale North Constituency. His case has been referred to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and necessary action.
The decision was prompted by a petition filed on January 20, 2025, by concerned polling station executives in the constituency. The petition alleged multiple instances of misconduct and violations of the party’s constitution. Among the allegations were violent and dangerous conduct against another member, constituting a direct breach of Article 4, Clause 7 Subsection 1a and 1g of the NPP constitution. Additional actions cited in the petition reportedly undermined the party’s unity and reputation.
By Article 7(19) of the party’s constitution, which outlines succession procedures in the absence of a Constituency Chairperson, Mr. Abdulai Imoro, the 2nd Vice Chairman, has been appointed as Acting Chairman. This follows the unavailability of the 1st Vice Chairman to assume the role.
As Acting Chairman, Mr. Abdulai Imoro will oversee the following key responsibilities:
1. Leading and coordinating all constituency-level party activities.
2. Ensuring effective administration of the constituency.
3. Fostering unity among party members and maintaining party cohesion.
The Northern Regional Executive Committee reaffirms its commitment to upholding the party’s constitution and ensuring discipline and accountability among its members. It also urges all party members in the Tamale North Constituency to support the Acting Chairman in carrying out his duties.
More updates will follow as the Disciplinary Committee investigates the allegations against Mr Sadat.
