Fuel prices to go up tomorrow – COPEC

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) is warning of significant hikes in fuel prices from Tuesday, September 16, 2025, as the second pricing window of the month opens.

According to COPEC’s projections, petrol will rise by 3.98 per cent, selling at an average of 13 cedis 61 pesewas per litre, up from the current 13 cedis 9 pesewas. Diesel prices are expected to climb by 9.41 per cent, moving to 14 cedis 8 pesewas per litre, while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will go up by 7.65 per cent to sell at 12 cedis 52 pesewas per kilogram.

The increases, COPEC explains, are largely due to the sharp depreciation of the Ghana cedi, which has dropped by 8.62 per cent against the US dollar within the current pricing window — from 11 cedis 3 pesewas to 12 cedis 7 pesewas per dollar.

This depreciation, the Chamber notes, has wiped out the marginal drop in global crude oil prices, which declined slightly by 0.52 per cent to 67 dollars 32 cents per barrel.

Executive Secretary of COPEC, Duncan Amoah, is appealing to Oil Marketing Companies to cushion consumers by reducing their profit margins.

He stressed that the expected price hikes could further burden households already struggling with the rising cost of living.
