A Ghana Air Force (GAF) Z-9 helicopter that departed from Accra this morning has gone missing, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed in a press release issued from Burma Camp.
According to the statement, the aircraft, which took off at exactly 9:12 AM and was en route to Obuasi, has gone off radar. On board were eight individuals three crew members and five passengers.
“All efforts are being made to establish contact,” the statement read, assuring the public that further details will be communicated in due course.
The press release, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), Acting Director General of Public Relations, called for media houses to publish the information and assist in keeping the public informed as the situation develops.
The sudden disappearance of the helicopter has sparked concern across the country, with many awaiting updates on the whereabouts and safety of those on board. It is currently unclear whether the aircraft experienced a technical fault or encountered adverse weather conditions.
Rescue and search operations are reportedly underway.
