The Yendi constituency is in mourning following the passing of the revered Mionlana Abdulai Mahama, a towering figure in Dagbon known for his wisdom, unwavering dedication to peace, and mentorship to many. As Dagbon prepares to bid a dignified farewell to the late chief, former Member of Parliament for the Yendi constituency, Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama has stepped forward in a heartfelt show of support.
Describing the late Mionlana as “a stalwart and influential leader,” the former MP highlighted the chief’s exceptional contributions to peace and unity in the kingdom. In a statement shared on social media, he acknowledged Mionlana Abdulai Mahaman’s pivotal role in fostering cohesion during challenging times in Dagbon.
In line with Dagbon tradition, funeral rites will be observed over the coming days, culminating in grand ceremonies befitting the stature of the late chief. To assist with the elaborate arrangements, the former MP, through a delegation led by his constituency Chairman, made a generous donation to the family.
The items donated include 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of tin tomatoes, 1 bull, 300 bags of sachet water, and a cash donation of GHC10,000.
“This is a moment for us to come together and honour a life well-lived. May Allah grant eternal peace to our esteemed chief,” the former MP wrote.
As preparations continue, the community remains united in grief and gratitude, remembering Mionlana Abdulai Mahaman as a beacon of guidance whose legacy will endure through generations.
