Information reaching Tolon Radio has indicated that the Minority caucus in Parliament will not be part of parliamentary business until January 2025.

The Majority Leader Afenyo-Markin appeal to Speaker Bagbin to recall parliament after the Supreme Court overturned the Speaker’s decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant. But the minority NDC is yet to accept the Supreme Court ruling.

Despite crucial government business in parliament including the reading of budget statement by the Finance Minister, the NDC minority is adamant to take part in any parliamentary business.

Speaking on joynews, Tuesday, Tamale Central MP Hon Murtala Mohammed said the NDC party and leadership in parliament will have to meet to take a decision.

Asking whether the NDC caucus will go back to their seats when parliament resumes following the Supreme Court ruling, Mr. Murtala refuses to answer the direct question but reiterated “when we get to the bridge we will cross”.

Another NDC MP, Nii Lante Vanderpuye also affirmed that, they will not be available until after the general election.

Speaking on Channel One TV, the Odododiodoo MP stated categorically that,  they will not come to back parliament , “They should not waste the taxpayers’ money by asking us to come to Parliament in the next three weeks. We are not coming. We are concerned about elections, and we shall only come to Parliament after the elections. That should be at the back of their minds,”

“We want them to understand one fact that as far as we are concerned, issues about minority or majority are determined by the numbers in the house, so when we resume, the numbers will tell whether we are the majority, or they are the majority. This is not about the Supreme Court”.
